We recognise that many of our students have to finance their own training and we want to ensure that income limitations do not prevent suitable candidates from applying.
For the Diploma in Groupwork Practice – Foundation year, the following bursary funding is available:
- The Harry Guntrip Trust supports a number of psychodynamic therapy trainings in the Yorkshire area and makes several modest awards (typically, around £100-£150) to those who meet its criteria and live in Yorkshire. See www.harryguntriptrust.co.uk for details and an online application form.
- York Groupwork Ltd. makes a number of bursaries available each year. The size of the bursary varies dependent on the number of bursary applications received and the overall numbers registered for the course, but typically will represent a discount of 10- 25% off the course fee.
Bursaries are aimed at those on lower household incomes. Those wishing to apply for a YGL bursary should write to the Foundation Course Convenor at York Groupwork Ltd. with brief details of their personal/financial circumstances and why they want to undertake the course. Any student in receipt of a bursary will be expected to share what they have gained from the course with a wider audience, i.e. professional colleagues, co-workers, peer group and may be asked by the YGL to speak at open events promoting YGL or IGA courses.
