Group Psychotherapy

York Groupwork offers two separate psychotherapy groups on a ‘block’ basis, conducted by highly experienced group psychotherapists,  Chris Holman and Ewa Wojciechowska.

Psychotherapy groups are open to anyone who is interested in an intensive group therapy experience, including  current Diploma year students for whom participation meets our recommendation that Diploma students undertake personal therapy.

This is a very cost-effective way of accessing psychotherapy for personal or professional development, with the ‘block’ model making it easier for those traveling from outside York to attend.

Venue

The groups currently meet in central York at the St Bedes Centre, 21 Blossom St, York YO24 1AQ, a few minutes walk from York Railway Station.

Structure

Each group meet for three one-and-a-half hour sessions on 16 Saturdays over the year with one occasion where there are two groups on a preceding Friday evening, giving a total of 50 group sessions per year.

Fees

Fees for 2017-18 are £31.92 per group session, equating to £1,596 for a 50-session year. This is payable by standing order with 12 regular monthly installments of £133 due on the 1st of each month. Participants joining part way through the year pay the same monthly installment, with any under- or over-payment being adjusted for on leaving the group.

Fees are reviewed on 1st August each year.

Joining a Group

The group psychotherapist will offer an individual appointment for consultation and assessment to those interested in joining the group for which a fee of £80 is payable to York Groupwork Ltd.

The group runs on a long term, ‘slow open’ basis where group members stay for as long as they wish and when there is a space new members can join.

Confidentiality

York Groupwork Ltd. staff members are not involved clinically with the group, but handle and signpost initial enquiries, manage the administration of room bookings, collect fees etc.
