Why train in York?
A former student reflects on the benefits of training in York:
“Studying out of London and in York was the right choice for me and I would recommend anyone to do the same if they live in London. I work in a job where it was easier for me to arrange to have the whole day off than to be able to guarantee to leave early regularly. I got a whole lot more experience for my money than studying alone. The train journey from Kings Cross to York is breath taking during the day and gave me time to read the course papers and write my reflective journal in the evening. If I booked the train tickets three months in advance it turned out to be very cheap and affordable. York has a lovely atmosphere and is beautifully scenic, it’s lovely to get away from the hustle and bustle of London and to be able to think and breathe clean, fresh air. The people are friendlier too. The whole travelling experience and staying in an amazing bed and breakfasts along the river Ouse made me feel like I was having a mini break every three weeks. A short walk from where I was staying and I was at the St Bede’s Centre, with its rich history. There was something nerve wracking and exciting about leaving my whole life behind and heading out alone on an adventure away from family, responsibility and everyday life that gave me an opportunity to not only learn about group dynamics but also learn about myself when I am away from everything that defines me. I had a heightened learning experience. A superb experience that I would recommend highly to anyone thinking of doing the Diploma, York is the place to do it in.”
